Humor beats Ideology

As a semi-pacifist, I know that violence is wrong, even more so when used to threaten schoolchildren. Jon Stewart just makes it so darn funny though (skip to 1:53 on the video):

This Thanksgiving, I remain thankful for Jon Stewart.

Did you see Jon Stewart's recent parody of Glenn Beck? He did a good job of mocking his idiosyncrasies, quite funny.
I'm thankful this holiday for Glenn Beck's followers; I call them: "Beck Necks", Sarah Palin, her Diva Dominion and her vaginal vassal's. Who parallel to the Manson Family. These easily influenced cockamamie fools make this country so much safer.

Semi-pacifist?

Wannabe pacifist?

Aspiring pacifist?

Would-be pacifist?

I still struggle. Violence is always wrong, but I am still tempted by it being the lesser of two evils on rare occasions. Maybe there's still too much Catholic in me.

I watched Gods and Demons this morning. Even more ludicrous than DaVinci Code. Why in the world would someone come up with such arcane clues and maps and passages and so forth? My favorite line: Tom Hanks spitting out the accusatory, "Do you SMOKE?" to a cop nearby. Talk about moral indignation. Hilarious movie.

To sell books and movie tickets, of course.

But I just suspend belief, sensibility, and reality when I read/watch Dan Brown stories. If you do that, they're actually kind of fun.

I tuned into James Dobson's show on the radio the other day (he's one of the signatures on your document), and -- sure enough -- he was bashing gay people again in his one-note ministry. Given that his show was financed and founded by the Prince family (the Blackwater money), I can't take anything these people have to say about morality or truth seriously. Same old wedge causes -- gayness and abortion. No point in rehashing these tired ideologies of oppression, Robert. Sad, sad stuff, truly born from the false gods of American affluence.

Why rebut issues when you can just make ad hominem attacks. Your are right that's it is same old, same old.

I'm sorry, Robert. Don't want to spoil the holiday. But what issues are you referring to? Search the document for "homelessness," "greed," or "environment" yields nothing. "War" has two references (but only in regard to wars caused by others) and "war" also yields two references to "toWARds," that deal with homosexuality...

Heard on the news the other day that violence against gay people was up 10 percent this year over last, and violence against gay people for religious reasons was up even higher than that.
